The Urban Music League was created by Ricky Watters in response to a need for hip hop music that talks about real life struggles, real life experiences, and real life accomplishments. So much pressure exists in the younger generation today because of the façade put up by so many hip hop artists. If you look on tv, almost every rapper is a multi-millionaire, living in mansions, driving Bentleys and flying by private jet. Just like professional football, less than 1% ever make it, and if you do make it, even less become actual millionaires and are able to hold on to it.

The mission of each album produced by The Urban Youth League is to educate, mentor and inspire our youth with hopes of building leaders in our communities and creating a better tomorrow.

Proceeds from the sales of these albums will go back into the Urban Youth League to fund future works as well as mentoring programs of the UYL.

SEEING

I dream of being someone,
I don’t just want to have fun.
I want to be a leader,
When someone needs me I’ll  be there.
I’ll be a role model.
I’ll show them how much I care.
I want to be able to live my life,
Have a great child and a great wife.
I don’t want to do drugs or drink,
If I do my life would sink.
I dream of making a buzzer beater shot,
To show my teammates what I’ve got.
I dream of friendships that will last,
Friends I can trust and who could make me laugh.
I dream I’m a poet to express how I feel,
I write about friends and family and dreams that are real.
Dreams of happiness, dreams of success, dreams of the future…
and doing my best.

IF I COULD PLAY FOOTBALL

If I could play football for any NFL team,
That would be the best dream.
My main position would be running back,
I would practice running on the track.
With me scoring five touchdowns a game,
The NFL will never be the same.
I hope my jersey is red, green or blue,
I hope I’m number thirty-two.
I have a lot to learn when I enter,
It would be fun to be on Sportscenter.
The next time you see my name,
It will be in the Hall of Fame.
