A five-time Pro Bowl running back who has played with the San Francisco 49ers (1991 - 1994), Philadelphia Eagles (1995 - 1997), and Seattle Seahawks (1998 - 2002). Ricky is the only player in NFL history to rush for 1,000 yards with three different franchises. He has helped six of nine teams he played on make the playoffs. One of only seven running backs in NFL history to average more than 100 total yards from scrimmage. Ricky entered the NFL as a second round draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers in 1991, but he was placed on injured reserve that season after he suffered a broken foot in the first week of training camp, and later breaking his hand, which ended his season. Ricky is the 13th leading rusher in NFL history with 10,643 yards. Was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles, as a transition player from the 49ers on March 25, 1995 - San Francisco did not match the offer sheet.
Finished his career at Notre Dame with 1,814 yards rushing on 325 carries and 21 touchdowns. Helped guide the Irish to the 1988 National Championship, when he was converted to flanker (wide receiver) for the season. Caught a team high 15 passes for 286 yards and two touchdowns. His 97-yard punt return for a touchdown against Southern Methodist in 1989 is the longest in school history. Tied on the Notre Dame school list with Tim Brown and Nick Rassas with three career punt return touchdowns.
Over the years Ricky has taken his game from the football field to the silver screen; appearing in Oliver Stone's "Any Given Sunday." Not only did Ricky star along side some of the greatest actors/actresses in Hollywood (Cameron Diaz, Al Pacino, and Dennis Quaid), but he also got to work with LL Cool J, Jim Brown, and Lawrence Taylor. Ricky looked up to Jim Brown ever since he was a little kid, and being able to meet the Hall of Fame running back was a special moment for Ricky.
Ricky has also appeared on LL Cool J's show, "In The House", which appeared on the UPN Network. In the episode, Ricky was joined by Tennessee Titans running back Eddie George and participants in Marion's (LL's) golf tournament.
Ricky has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and NFL Blast, which featured many stars in the NFL.
